Latest Panther News

Holt, MI (01-12-2013): The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association announced the rosters for the 2013 East West All-Star Football game. DeWitt senior wide receiver/punter Ryan Anderson was named to the West squad. The 33rd Annual game will be played at Grand Valley State University Lubber's Stadium on Saturday June 22.

Anderson hauled in a school record 80 catches this year for 1,221 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also handled punting duties and averaged 40.3 yards per kick with a couple of 60+ yard boomers and 14 punts inside the opponents' 20 yard line. The sure-handed Anderson flawlessly handled all 46 extra point and eight field goals attempts as the holder. Not to be outdone by DeWitt's two Jacob quarterbacks, he was a perfect one for one passing for a touchdown. Anderson is the seventh player from DeWitt to be named to the squad, joining Kirk Williams (2003), Justin Braska(2005), Cody Worden(2007), Jason Fleet(2008), Paul Jorgensen(2009), Caleb Higbie(2011) and Ethan Rennaker(2012). Coach Rob Zimmerman was the head coach of the West squad in 2009.

Anderson has also announced that he has verbally committed to play football at Saginaw Valley State University.

Congratulations Ryan.

DeWitt, MI (01-15-2013) Senior receiver Andrew Clements has verbally committed to play football at Grand Valley State University. Clements teamed with Ryan Anderson to be one of the best one/two receivers in a corps of outstanding receivers in DeWitt history. Clements had 47 receptions for 635 yards and seven touchdowns this past season. He had two games of nine receptions, against Owosso and GR Christian and had two big touchdown receptions to help the Panthers beat then undefeated Fruitport. As a big defensive back, Clements logged 15 tackles and several batted passes on defense. The big 6'4" Clements will be a great addition to the Grand Valley scheme.

Congratulations Andrew and good luck as a Laker.

DeWitt, MI (2/10/2013): 2012 DeWitt offensive center Colin Feguer has signed an NCAA letter of intent to continue to play football at the next level and has signed with Hope College. The 6'4" 280 pound Feguer was the anchor on the offensive line for the 2012 Panthers that finished 10-3 that racked up over 3,100 yards of offense and only allowed 21 sacks in 363 passing attempts. The Panther's potent pistol offense formation requires a solid snap every time and Colin provided that this year.

Says DeWitt Coach Rob Zimmerman of Feguer,"He is an extremely committed young man with a very good work ethic. As he grows into his body he has the potential to be a very good college football player." Feguer joins the Flying Duchmen of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Hope is located in Holland and finished 5-5 for the 2012 season. Dean Kreps is the head football coach at Hope and has six conference titles in his 18 years in the volitile MIAA. On Saturday, October 12, Hope will play at Olivet College, a short half an hour trip down I-69. It will be a perfect day for football so drive down and see one of Coach Rob Zimmerman's players continue their football career. Contratulations to Colin and good luck at Hope.

Battle Creek, MI (12-1-2012): The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association has announced several post season honors and recognitions in their December news release. DeWitt Coach Rob Zimmerman was honored by the MHSFCA as the Division III Coach of the Year. Zimmerman directed his young Panthers to a 10-3 record and a spot in the Division III State semi-finals. They won the CAAC Red conference for a record 7th straight year and won an incredible 6 overtime marathon game over highly ranked Linden in the district finals. Two of the three losses were to eventual state champions, GR Christian and Portland and also to undefeated regular season foe Lansing Everett. A well deserved congratulations to Rob from DeWittFootball.org.

The Panther team was also named Academic All-State for the 2012 season with a 3.91 GPA, just behind Battle Creek Harper Creek (3.92) and Bloomfield Hills Lahser (3.92) . Congratulations Panthers from DeWittFootball.org.
